It is the policy of Unitil and Unitil Energy Systems to permit customer-generators to operate generating equipment in parallel with the electric system, whenever this can be done without adverse effects to the general public or to the Company’s equipment or personnel. Protective devices specified by Unitil must be installed at any location where a Customer desires to operate generation in parallel with the electric system. Protection, metering and other interconnection requirements will be specified, reviewed and approved by Unitil on a case-by-case basis, in accordance with the provisions of Unitil's Interconnection Requirements for Customer Owned Generation.

Generating facilities qualifying for net energy metering will be handled in accordance with the provisions of Chapter PUC 900 - "Net Metering for Customer-Owned Renewable Energy Generation Resources of 25 Kilowatt or Less".
