Unitil offers a range of programs that can help you reduce your energy costs and aid you in paying your energy bills.

Energy Usage: Visit our Home Energy Suite or Commercial Energy Suite, interactive tool kits to help you better understand energy use and its costs in your home or business.


Home Energy Suite Commercial Energy Suite

Your bill is a good source for information on how and when you use gas and electricity each month. It is calculated based on the amount of energy you have used. It also shows you a one year history of your usage and the average daily temperature for each month. Log in to My Unitil and check your energy usage for the last 24 months. Using this information you may be able to determine what changes in weather have led to changes in your energy usage.

Energy Saving Tips: Follow our quick and easy energy saving tips to help you save on your energy bills and put you in control of your energy costs.

Energy Efficiency Programs: Unitil offers an array of Energy Efficiency Programs that can help customers improve the energy efficiency and comfort of their homes. Our innovative programs offer rebates and contractor services to encourage the installation of energy saving improvements in our customers homes. Business Energy Efficiency: Unitil offers business customers Energy Efficiency Programs that can help to identify and install improvements that will help save energy and reduce energy costs. This program serves a variety of businesses from a small convenience store to a large factory. To find out more click here or call our customer service center 888-301-7700.

Payment Plans: If you are having trouble paying your bills click here, we can help. Call us anytime - 24 hours a day. We'll help you work out a payment plan that will get you back on track. Or, you might consider enrolling in our Budget Billing Program. It provides you with a fixed bill amount each month, based on your energy usage history. Many customers find it easier to budget for a regular bill amount than to accommodate the cost fluctuations that go with higher energy usage periods. We also offer bill payment by web, credit card or automatically deducted from your checking account. Call our customer service center at 888-301-7700.

You May Qualify for the Discount Rate Depending on the size of your family, and your combined gross annual income, you may be eligible to receive a discounted rate for your gas and electric service from Unitil. See if you qualify.

Federal Fuel Assistance: If you need help paying your winter heating bills, you may qualify for Federal Fuel Assistance funds. The program can help pay your heating bill, if you meet federal income guidelines. If you rent and heat is part of your rent payment, a portion of your rent may be covered. New applications are taken by appointment only, so please call 978-342-4520.

Good Neighbor Energy Fund (GNEF): GNEF began in 1985 as a partnership of Massachusetts gas and electric utilities and the Salvation Army. The fund helps those in financial crisis who do not qualify for other fuel assistance. You can help give the gift of warmth by contributing. Please mail your check, payable to GNEF to your nearest Salvation Army. To apply for GNEF assistance, call the local office of the Salvation Army at 978-342-9407.

Customer Choice: In the future, all customers will be able to buy their own electricity and gas from competitive suppliers. Unitil is encouraging suppliers to provide their services to all.

Renewable or Clean Energy: To find out more about renewable energy options and opportunities, we recommend you check out the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative at http://www.masstech.org/cleanenergy/index.htm.

Mass 2-1-1 www.mass211help.org is an online directory for emergency food, rent, help paying your heating and utility bills, mental health counseling, health programs, public health and safety services, child care referrals, job resources, and other help for individuals, parents and families.
